Well Easter 2008 is over and it was the most delicious ever! So if you missed out you'll just have to wait until next year to try our famously fruity hot cross buns (sometimes misspelled as hot crossed buns or hot x buns). Our hot cross buns are loaded with fruit and made with only the very best ingredients to a time-tested Ferguson Plarre recipe.
Chocolate Cross Buns
The year 2008 saw the introduction of our premium chocolate hot cross buns made with Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate and they were an absolute hit! Try them for yourself in 2009.
Easter in 2009: Sunday 12th April
We'll be baking our fruity buns well before then though (some time in early Feb)! By the way, our buns are perfect for freezing, so you can taste the joys of Easter all-year-round and buy a dozen to put in your freezer to pull out whenever you're up for some hot cross fun!
Ice Cream Hot Cross Buns!
Slice & toast your favourite Hot Cross Bun. Put in a scoop of vanilla ice cream, dust with bun with icing sugar and drizzle lightly with maple syrup. Serve warm. Scrumptious!
Hot Cross Bun Butter Recipes
Here are some delicious Hot Cross Bun butter recipes to tantalise your tastebuds. If you like fruit toast you'll fall in love when you toast one of our buns!
CINNAMON BUTTER
Combine a little caster sugar, ground cinnamon and unsalted butter. Cut the buns in half and spread with lashings of mouthwatering Cinnamon butter. Then just grill or place buns in the oven until the Cinnamon butter has melted and the buns have warmed through.
LEMON BUTTER
Combine unsalted butter with a small amount of castor sugar, lemon rind and lemon juice. Mix the ingredients until the mixture is smooth and creamy and then spread the Lemon butter over warm buns for a taste sensation.
VANILLA BUTTER
Place unsalted butter, a little castor sugar and a few drops of vanilla essence in a mixing bowl. Beat until the sugar has dissolved. Cut the buns in half and spread with the creamy Vanilla butter. Grill or place the buns in the oven until the butter has melted.
HONEY & ORANGE BUTTER
For a great treat, combine unsalted butter with castor sugar, honey and orange rind. Beat until the sugar has dissolved through the mixture. Spread the Honey and Orange butter over warm buns, take a waft of the aroma and let the family hoe into them!
