    IN THE BEGINNING

    Otto Plarre started his famous baking career in France & England in the late 1800’s. After a rather long boat trip in 1909, he started a business that has now been baking for Australia for well over 110 years. Our business has proven itself through the Great Depression, World Wars as well as the boom times. We’ve spent over 110 years building our customer base and a reputation that is now yours to take advantage of. One of the many great things about a brand with this much history is that it can never be replicated.

    We believe franchising should be about being in business for yourself but not by yourself. Our first franchisees were members of our own family and our business model is now the basis for a much larger family of franchisees. Most importantly though, we make all of our own products. We’re foodies at heart and if you’ve eaten our products, you’ll taste the difference. To put it simply, we love to bake. We need you to love selling!

It’s hard to know how many pies or Long Johns we’ve sold since our first generation of baking, but we’ve made so many meat pies, that if you placed them end-to-end, they’d go around the earth at least four times (or thereabouts!). That’s one unshakeable love relationship between Australia and the traditional bakehouse.
