Must I be eligible to work in Australia?

Yes – all FPB workers must have a valid passport or visa requirements to work with us. You will need to provide this for verification prior to starting employment.

What is the minimum age that I can work with FPB?

Minimum ages are per the current state legislation, any applicants under the age of 15 must have written consent from their parent or guardian.

How do I go about gaining an apprenticeship if I’d like to work in the bakehouse?

Barista Trainer – 12 Month Contract

Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses is a family-owned franchise with 85 stores across Victoria. Expanding rapidly over the past decade, we recognised the key role of coffee in the food retail sector and have assembled a team of barista trainers to ensure high quality espresso is served across our network. Operating out of a purpose-built training facility and using cutting edge teaching tools, our training team lead the charge in increasing skills and growing sales.

About the role



Central to this role is the ability to impart your practical knowledge and enthusiasm for espresso to franchisees and store staff. Since establishing a dedicated coffee team within our training department, our coffee sales have been in rapid growth, and you will be expected to contribute to maintaining and promoting this trend.

We are looking for a passionate, energetic and talented barista to work alongside other trainers, both in-store across the network, and in our training facility.

Reporting to the Training Manager, your success in the role will depend on your ability to adapt to our standards and methods, while drawing on your unique experience and skills. Training and ongoing support will be provided, we are a close-knit department, and pride ourselves on our teamwork and communication.

The position is a 12 month contract role. It is full time, mostly during business hours with the occasional weekend or evening as required.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an extremely high level of barista skills and related knowledge.
  • Be able to adjust and maintain commercial grinders and espresso machines.
  • Understand and use sales data as the basis for fostering excellence.
  • Train new and current franchisees and staff to a high level of competence.
  • Participate in the management and running of events and training activities.
  • Visit sites regularly to provide support and ensure compliance.
  • Report on various metrics to superiors as required.
  • Collect and manage data efficiently using MS office applications.

Key skills and selection criteria

  • Minimum 4 years of high-volume barista experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial espresso equipment and workflow.
  • Barista training experience, preferably in a franchise setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence dealing with a wide variety of personality types.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, keep up with developing methods, and embrace change.
  • Intermediate to high computer competency, including MS Office programs.
  • Exceptional organisational, planning and time management skills, both independently and in a team environment, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage workload, deadlines and changing circumstances.
  • High attention to detail and strong work ethic.

Operational Retail Trainer

We are looking for a highly qualified and self - motivated retail trainer to join our team in maintaining the brand’s growth through innovative teaching methods and ongoing in-store support.

  • Predominately in-store, hands-on training role.

Minimum required skills and experience

  • Experience with hands-on training , preferably in a retail or food service in store environment.
  • Currently or willing to be certified in TAE41110 / TAE40116

  • Exceptional organisation skills and a demonstrated ability to complete complex tasks on time and on budget in a high pressure environment.
  • An unwavering positive attitude, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.

Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses is growing & we’re recruiting for experienced bakery process workers to join our team as Bakery Team Members, working 2, 3 or 5 days per week. Shifts are Monday to Friday beginning at 5:00am

Cleaner Required - Keilor Park

We have opportunities for experienced cleaners to join our team working 2, 3 or 5 days per week.

Our Monday to Friday shifts begin at 7:00am - Saturday can be linked to your Monday to Friday roster, but you will need to be an early riser with the shift starting at 4:00am.
