Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses was officially awarded Victoria’s Best Sausage Roll at the Baking Association of Victoria, 2015 Victorian Baking Show held over the weekend. This same event also saw Ferguson Plarre take home the hotly contested best decorated Novelty Cake (Themed).
Ferguson Plarre’s Sausage Rolls are crafted using only hormone free, lean beef sausage mince and took home the award not just due to the quality of the ingredients, but the passionate workmanship that went into crafting the end result. This workmanship is seen in elements such as the perfectly flaky puff pastry, which comprises of 60 individual delicate layers.
Ferguson Plarre COO and Head of baking, Michael Plarre, said “We have been making our traditional Sausage Rolls to the same quality recipe for over 30 years, we firmly believe that if it’s not broke, don’t break it. Our sausage rolls were perfect then and are still perfect now and this award is testament to that.
Every product we make is tested first at our own dining room tables and if they don’t pass our dining room test they simply don’t hit the market. We wouldn’t dream of sharing anything with Victorian families that we wouldn’t share with our own – that’s the Ferguson Plarre quality that our customers know and love.”
The Plarre family have been prominent figures on the Australian baking circuit since 1901 and in this time, have won a plethora of baking excellence awards. The family’s ability to still be winning awards today is testament to their commitment to maintaining excellence and innovation in baking.
With 65 Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses across Victoria, the family are committed to ensuring Victorians have access to premium quality bakery products, made from only the best ingredients, at reasonable prices no matter where they are based.
