Is Chocolate really good for you?

Chocolate really is good for you!

Apparently this is a fact! Yes. Particularly dark chocolate it seems! It contains antioxidants that can help lower blood pressure a little! We’ll take that as an excuse!

There’s also evidence that dark chocolate can prevent blood clots, whilst a study from Harvard Medical School suggests that two cups of flavanol-rich cocoa can improve blood flow to the brain. It’s also not considered to be an artery clogger which is good news for those chocoholics amongst us.

On that basis we take a look at some of the cakes that could be considered good for you. Don’t take our word for it, it’s a scientific fact! Anyway, even if you still feel a bit suspicious of this research, you can’t deny that anything with chocolate tastes good. That’s a fact!

Chocolate Mousse Cake

This is definitely one for those looking to improve the blood flow to the brain – The name says it all really – A thick layer of our famous chocolate mousse (with small chunks of chocolate inside) between two layers of lovely moist chocolate sponge, topped off with chocolate shavings dusted in cocoa filling the centre of the cake. Oh, and don’t forget the cream and the strawberries, separated by, you guessed it, more chocolate! Yummy!

Chocolate Ganache Cake

Isn’t ganache a wonderful thing? The small Ganache Cake has cream and chocolate mixed together to create a layer of ganache between two layers of chocolate sponge, topped with even more ganache! It should be considered very healthy on current evidence.

Self-Saucing Choc Pudding

What can you say about a self-saucing chocolate pudding that hasn’t been said already? How about, “it’s good for you”, with chocolate sponge and a decadent chocolate sauce that oozes from the centre when it is warmed, this should help lower the blood pressure!
