Cake that make you go mmmm

We love to think outside the cake tin at Ferguson Plarre and we’ve pulled together some more mashed up cake recipes that will not only make you go mmmmmm, but perhaps even make you go hmmm!

It’s one of those questions you asked yourself as a kid, what would happen if a tiger and an elephant had children, or if you mixed a sausage roll with a vanilla slice. Sometimes you know that the idea is doomed from the start, but there are times when you can hit upon a moment of genius

Here’s our recipes that take some classic cakes from Ferguson Plarre and create something even more magical!

Orange Creme Caramel

The love child of a Flourless Orange Cake and a Sticky Date Pudding. Now doesn’t that sound good already?

Ingredients

This is a very simple but incredibly decadent mash up.

Here’s what you need to do

Following the instructions on your Self Saucing Sticky Date pudding, heat this up for the appropriate time until the sauce is oozing out.

Then take your Flourless Orange Cake and place it in to the microwave for 1 minute to warm it up.

Whilst you’re doing this, take your 2 oranges and slice them up into 5mm slices. Make sure you cut off the rind and any obvious pith if you can.

Serve up a slice of the warm Flourless Orange Cake with a slice of the warm Sticky Date pudding, and then place a slice or two of the orange on top, pour over the Sticky Date sauce and serve with cream or ice cream for a truly deliciously decadent Orange Creme Caramel.

Chocolate Eclair Cheesecake

Who knew that something this easy, could be so good, and with such simple ingredients and no baking. There’s not much to this luscious Chocolate Eclair Cheesecake so why not give it a try!

Ingredients

This is a brilliant creation of a layer of cheesecake, topped with a layer of chocolate cake, filled and topped with lovely & fresh whipped cream, strawberries and shaved chocolate, with a cheeky Eclair on top to garnish!. What’s not to like!

Here’s how you make it!

Place your Cheesecake onto a plate or board that will fit both cakes. You need to have some space for the cream as well.

Take your freshly whipped cream, and a handful of quartered strawberries and spread this on top of the cheesecake.

Once you have done this, take your Flourless Chocolate Cake and place it on top of the cream and strawberry covered cheesecake.

Cover the entire cake with freshly whipped cream, then sprinkle shavings of chocolate on the sides and the top of the cream.

Quarter the rest of your strawberries and spread evenly over the top of the cake.

Cut your Chocolate Eclair in half and place on top of the cake.

Pop the cake into the fridge for an hour to let the cream set then serve up to the hungry masses.

Now we realise that both of these cakes are very extravagant so please ensure that you only create these “Hybrid Cakes” on very special occasions.
